Do you know why some babies don't like to drink breast milk?

Published by Dailys 2024-03-06

Breast milk is the best food for babies. It is rich in nutrients to meet the needs of the baby's body and is easier to digest and absorb in the intestines. Little babies can’t speak when they are young, and many novice mothers have no feeding experience, and they don’t know much about breastfeeding. As a result, they often get into some misunderstandings during the feeding process, causing the babies to protest and do not like breastfeeding. Let's take a look together below.

Protest 1: I don’t like soapy nipples

All mothers know that they should clean their hands and around the nipples before and after feeding to prevent the baby from getting infected, but mothers should be aware that the skin of the breasts and nipples has its own protective layer. Excessive cleaning may destroy the oil on the skin. Therefore, it is best not to frequently use body wash, soap, etc. when cleaning before breast-feeding. The baby does not like it.

Protest 2: Using the bottle too early makes the baby no longer willing to suck on the nipples

Compared with the nipple, the pacifier on the bottle allows the baby to eat milk without any effort. After getting used to such an effortless way of eating, the baby is not used to sucking the nipple directly.

Protest 3: Feeding milk on demand, not milking on point

Many novice parents don’t know when to breastfeed their babies. Many of them strictly follow the intervals in the books, but in fact, because each baby’s physique is different, the amount of breastfeeding is different each time. The digestion time is also different, so the time between feedings is also different. Parents only need to feed the baby when the baby is crying or when they think it is time to feed.

Protest 4: Don't stop breastfeeding if your mother has a cold

After a cold, many mothers are afraid of transmitting the virus to their babies through breast milk, so they stop breastfeeding after they have a cold, but in fact, there is no need to stop breastfeeding for a mild cold, because the most likely way to spread a cold is through the respiratory tract. So mothers only needs to wash her hands and wear a mask when breastfeeding.

Protest 5: Mom, don't worry about losing weight

After giving birth, mothers are eager to restore their pre-pregnancy figure, but you can’t worry about losing weight, especially if you are breastfeeding, if you suddenly diet or use weight loss tea indiscriminately, do strenuous exercise, etc., it is possible. Will have an impact on the body. Mother’s milk may also have side effects, which may harm the baby, so you must not rush to lose weight after delivery.

Protest 6: Don't add supplementary food if you are not ready

As the baby grows up slowly, breast milk is no longer able to meet the baby's nutritional needs. At this time, it is time to gradually add supplementary food to the baby. The age of supplementary food should not be younger than 4 months, and should not exceed 8 months. The supplementation of supplementary food should follow the principle of from less to more, from thin to thick, and from one to many.
