What should I do if the baby overflows milk seriously?

Published by Dailys 2024-03-06

Mothers often find that if the baby lies flat on the bed immediately after feeding, the milk will flow out of the mouth, and even spit out all the milk that has just been eaten. In medicine, this type of spitting up is called spitting up. When a mother sees her baby spitting up for the first time, she may be apprehensive and overwhelmed. In fact, as long as you pay attention to the following aspects, you can prevent your baby from spitting up.

1. Adopt a proper feeding position: try to hold the baby for feeding, let the baby's body be in a tilted state of about 45 degrees, and the milk in the stomach will flow into the small intestine naturally, which will reduce the chance of spitting up compared to lying down for feeding.

2. Be sure to let the baby burp after breastfeeding: lift the baby upright on the shoulders, pat the baby's back, let him expel the air in his stomach through burping, and then put the baby on the bed , so that it is not easy to spit up milk.

3. It is not advisable to let the baby lie on the back immediately after feeding, but should lie on the side for a while, and then change to the supine position.

4. The amount of breastfeeding should not be too much, and the interval should not be too dense.

After the baby spit up, if there is no other abnormality, generally do not need to care, it will gradually improve in the future, and it will not affect the baby and growth and development. The milk that the baby vomits may be in the form of bean curd residue, which is the result of the interaction of milk and stomach acid, and it is also normal, so don't worry. However, if the baby vomits frequently, and vomits yellow-green, coffee-colored liquid, or is accompanied by symptoms such as fever and diarrhea, it should go to the hospital for examination in time.
